A MODERNIST GEM: The Battle to Save Leigham Court Sheltered Housing Scheme

A MODERNIST GEM: The Battle for Leigham Court Sheltered Housing Scheme is an Exhibition which documents the 'three - year battle', in which a group of Diverse Elders joined forces with Community Activists and Architectural Maveriks, in an attempt to prevent the demolition and restore their "Modernist Jem", of a Sheltered Housing Scheme.
What Happened Next would end up Re-writing Modern British Architectural History, creating contemporary heroes and martyrs, and reviving a community. This Exhibition also acknowledges the wave of other Public Housing Campaigns heralded after the Leigham Court Campaign. Insight will be gained into how these Housing Campaigns, have led the way in 'next level' Activism, and contemporary citizenship.
